James Harlon Thompson 75-year-old Marietta, OK resident, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023. James began this life on February 19, 1948 in Ardmore, OK, the son of Harlon Herschel and Lucricia Monsella (Tabler) Thompson.
After graduating high school, James served his country in the United States Army during Viet Nam from 1967- 1970. For his service, James was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Viet Nam Service Medal, and the Viet Nam Campaign Medal. James was honorably discharged from the Army on April 15, 1970 in St. Louis, MO. After returning to civilian life, James found work as a carpenter and also as a mechanic. He loved building things and fixing things. James also developed a passion for riding motorcycles and took great pride in his Harley-Davidson. Above all things, James was a great father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family.
James was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lucricia Scott Valeri; and by an uncle Erdean Tabler. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Amanda Monsella Thompson and Savannah My'Lyn Thompson both of Thackerville; brothers, Rusty Thompson and John Thompson both of Idaho; sisters, Pamela Capps of Thackerville and Debbie Thompson of Idaho; seven grandchildren, Kalob Thompson, Autumn Hays, Paysley Lambeth, Eli Richards, Joplyn Gibbs, Rosalia Hernandez, and Hendryx Hernandez; and one great-grandchild, Ryleigh Wood.
A private family service will be scheduled at a later date.
