Helen began this life on December 30, 1930, in Greene County, MO the daughter of Jerry and Noel (Gardner) Wade. She met the love of her life, Frank Armstrong, while working at the Sportswear Manufacturing Company in Republic, MO. Frank left to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and as soon as he returned from the service, they were married three days later on March 18, 1952. They moved to Marietta in 1967 when the Sportswear Manufacturing Company expanded to their new location.
Helen spent countless hours quilting and together with Frank, they produced over 100 master planned quilts for their family and friends. Helen also loved traveling. Over the years she visited Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, and places all over the contiguous United States. Many things in life brought Helen great joy, but perhaps the thing she enjoyed most was visiting her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Frank; brother, Roy Wade; and sister-in-law, Wanda Wade. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, James Armstrong and wife Lisa of Lone Grove, OK, Steve Armstrong and wife Charla of Edmond, OK, and Susan Shultz and husband Ray of Granbury, TX; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
