Gracie began this life on June 27, 1944, in Thackerville, the daughter of Edward Lee and Etheline Grace (Jones) Craft. She grew up and attended school in Thackerville. Gracie co-owned a beauty shop in Gainesville, TX with her parents for many years before branching out on her own. She worked and managed the books for the farm. Gracie was known to cook on several occasions for the men working harvests as they returned from the fields. Later in life she went to work as the Secretary for the Thackerville Public Schools for many years. She also traveled with the Thackerville FFA to several state conventions and many other activities. Gracie loved her work with the school because it allowed her to play such an active role in the lives of so many children. She was very dedicated to the livelihood of her own children and grandchildren as well. She loved to cook for them and visit with them at every opportunity that she was granted. Gracie will also be remembered as a great supporter of her community.
Gracie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Thackerville where she also played the piano during services for many years. She was a crafty lady who also enjoyed sewing and quilting. Gracie was even known to enjoy playing bingo and taking a trip or two to the casino to do a little gambling.
Gracie was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Tim Rains and wife Donna of Marietta and Chad Rains of Thackerville; two brothers, Jimmy Craft and wife Pam of Thackerville and Kenny Craft and wife Bonnie of Roanoke, TX; two sisters, Martha Beaman of Bridgeport, TX and Betty Sprouse and husband Marshall of Marietta; six grandchildren, Tyler Rains, Jacob "Cole" Rains, Cade Rains, Morgan Handley and husband Chris, T.J.
