Gerald Allen Young, 43-year-old Marietta, OK resident, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Medical City of Denton in Denton, TX. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 20, 2023, also at the funeral home.

Allen began this life February 12, 1980, in Marietta, the son of Gerald "Pete" Young, Jr. and Peggy (Daniel) Young. Soon after high school, Allen enlisted in the United States Army. He served overseas in Germany and in Iraq attaining the rank of SGT. E-5. After his service he married Salina Hellmer in June of 2003 in Salem, MO. After her untimely death, Allen moved around from location to location until finally moving back to the Marietta area to be closer to family and friends.

Allen became a member of the All-Faith Christian Church in Marietta. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing and tie his own flies. Allen also loved to sit down in front of the Andy Griffith Show or a good western on the television. The one thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his service dog "OKTANE".

Those left to cherish Allen's memory are his mother, Peggy Wilson of the home; father, Pete Young of Wilson, OK; grandparents, Buddy and Louise Young of Wilson; aunt and uncle, Greg and Sylvia Wesley of Marietta; and cousins, Greg Wesley, Jr. and Tammy Johnston.

Honorary bearers for the service are Greg Wesley, Jr., Kenny Lowrie, Isaac Johnston, Nathon Wesley, Joshua Wesley, and Russell Shade.
