Obituary

Georgia Louise (Eastman) Simmons "Gram" was born on November 29, 1937, and raised in Mannsville, Oklahoma.  She raised her family in Lindsay, Oklahoma, and retired in Del City after she had worked at the telephone company in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Sherri Classics, a garment factory in Lindsay, Oklahoma, and C. R. Anthony Co. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She graduated from Mannsville High School and married Edward Franklin Simmons on November 3, 1956, in Mannsville, Oklahoma.

Georgia was a proud member of the Golden Trend Home Extension Club for many years while living in Lindsay, Oklahoma.  While a member of the Club she won Grand Champion of the Garvin County Dress Review twice.  She was a great seamstress and enjoyed making beautiful clothes and items for her home.

She loved being home room mother for her daughters and always welcomed their friends into her home.  Georgia was also a Girl Scout Leader while her daughters were growing up.

Georgia's favorite pastimes were reading (almost anything), gardening, and painting.  She took many classes and developed her painting skills over the years.

Her granddaughters and other children in her world affectionately called her Gram.  She took great delight in being called that by any and all.

Ed and Georgia were married at the Church of Christ in Mannsvillle, Oklahoma, on November 3, 1956.  They had been married 56 years when she lost the love of her life, Edward Franklin Simmons, on June 30, 2013.

Left to cherish Georgia's memory are her daughters, Janet (Barry) Scheer and Jo (Tim) Nortier.  She is survived by her brothers, Sherwood (Linda) Eastman and Lyle (Leah) Eastman, her granddaughters, Emily (Em) Scheer and Lauren Nortier, and her sister-in-law, Susie (Lowell) Trovillion.  She also leaves one bonus daughter, Jo (Paul) Horton and her children, Maggie and Kyle.  Georgia also leaves a large extended family with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  They were all very special to her.  One of her favorite family events was her annual family reunion which she enjoyed being the matriarch of for a few years

Georgia is preceded in death by her grandson, Neal Thomas Scheer, her parents, Louis and Blanche Eastman, her siblings, Elsie (Leamon) Suttle and William Eastman, and her sister-in-law, Re (Bob) Perkins.

A special thanks from the family to the staff at Sand Sage of the Highlands and Trinity Hospice.
