Gail Wright
Vaughn
November 17, 1956 – December 31, 2022
On Saturday afternoon December 31, 2022, the world lost a beautiful soul, Gail Wright Vaughn at the age of 66 in Ardmore, OK at her home surrounded by her family. Her journey in life began in Greenville, MS on November 17, 1956, born to Lawrence Richard and Edna Peral (Bailey) Wright. A 1974 graduate of Deer Creek, MS High School, she continued her education at Oklahoma State University obtaining her degree in Forensic Science. In 1984 she moved her family to Texas where she married Sammy Joe Vaughn on June 2, 2000 in Bowie, TX. In 2003 they moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her children. Sammy preceded her in death on June 8, 2019.
Gail loved the beauty of the outdoors and watching nature come to life. She had bird and hummingbird feeders throughout her yard. If there was a spare place on the tree, there was some sort of feeder. Gail had plants inside and outside her home. She had a knack for growing any kind of plant or flower. She was a collector of angels, birds, hummingbirds, and butterflies. Gail loved to cook and later in life she loved to make spicy food. Holidays were her favorite time. Anyone was welcome at Gail's, she made enough food for all her family and friends. No one left her house with an empty stomach. Her greatest pleasure in life was raising her family. She loved all her children deeply and adored her grandchildren even more. Gail always had the biggest smile on her face when she talked about her family.
Gail was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two grandsons, one great-grandson, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her significant other Rick Wilkenson of the home; sons, Roger Chase Baugh and wife Alisha of Nevada, TX, Tony Dale Baugh and wife Erin of Ennis, TX, and Sam Pennington and husband Rodney of Marietta, OK; brother, Ricci Wright of AR; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one niece; and two nephews.
Memorial service to celebrate Gail's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Sam's home with Stephen Smithers officiating.
Honorary bearers are her children and her grandchildren.
