Obituary

FS Mapp, a longtime resident of Jimtown, OK, passed away January 11, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family. FS was born January 18, 1936 in Jimtown, OK to Ulys and Ruby (Ladner) Mapp. He was the oldest grandson of the late Sylvester and Mattie (Johnson) Ladner and the late Jesse and Maggie (Reed) Mapp. He grew up loving farm life and enjoyed spending time with his brother JB. When he was young, he attended Jimtown School and was a 1955 graduate of Leon High School.

FS was a Choctaw Veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army, serving in South Korea. He lived very proud of his Choctaw heritage.

After dating the love of his life for two months, FS proposed to Treni in the middle of his cotton field. They married on July 1, 1970 in Gainesville, Tx. They made their home in Jimtown, raising their four children and making sure they were brought up in church. After accepting the Lord the summer of 1974 and baptized in the Red River by Bro. A.C. Hawkins, he became a faithful member of the Jimtown Baptist Church. There he served as a Sunday School Director, Sunday School Youth Teacher and a Sunday School Adult Class Teacher Assistant. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and being the one to dismiss all of the church business meetings. His most requested favorite hymns were "Mansion Over The Hilltop" and "What A Day That Will Be". He loved knowing all his children and grandchildren are saved by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ and was very happy he got to be there for all their baptisms.

FS enjoyed watching and supporting Turner School sporting events, especially watching his children play sports and then was a proud papa watching those grandkids play too. He loved spending time with his family and making sure his family was provided for. He kept their table filled with garden veggies from his big garden, deer meat, squirrel, duck, fish, and turkey. He loved taking his family to the river on his dune buggy "Old Liz" where many memories were made and will forever be a cherished pastime his family will always enjoy. FS was one of the top trappers in this area and was always given the best prices for his hides. He was known throughout the area for his trapping skills, making and selling his fish nets and hunting game. He was a member of the American Fur Traders Association. His whole life was enjoying the great outdoors and his family. FS worked at Michelin as a tire builder and retired in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Bernice Irene Mapp; nephew, Mark Mapp; and his grandparents, Jesse and Maggie Mapp and Sylvester and Mattie Ladner.

He leaves behind his loving wife of the home; brother, JB Mapp of Stratford, OK; son; Robert Mapp and Jill Stinley of Jimtown; and three daughters, Nancy and Roger Rhoades, Marie Mapp all of Jimtown, and Ramona and Larry Fox of Kingston, OK; his grandchildren, Caleb Rhoades and Kody Suarez, Alissa and Caleb Wagner, Adonis Fox, Samuel Fox, Kacie Mapp and Cameron Spencer, Maggie Mapp and Wyatt Miller, and Olivia Mapp; and his three precious great-grandchildren who always put a big smile on his face, Jakob Fox, Amelia Wagner, and Maeson Miller.

Serving as Pallbearers will be his Grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers are Bro. Roy Vinson, Bro. Howard McMurry, Frankie Hall, Brian Ladner, Johnny Gordon, Mike Parker , Larry Taliaferro, Tony Ladner, Tony Tamez, John Tamez, Bubba Tamez, Roy Hartman Jr., Cody Higgins, Kent Foster, Larry Hicks, Joel Hicks, Michael Mayes, and Trey Mayes.
