Fern E. Brown, 82-year-old Marietta, OK resident, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 in the Mercy Love County Medical Center in Marietta. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2023 in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Lawrence Anderson officiating. Following the service, Fern will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Fern Brown began this life on November 22, 1940 in Eagle City, OK the daughter of William Chester and Ruby Francis (Trook) Redus. She graduated from high school in Fay, OK and later married Leon H. Brown on June 27, 1960, in Watonga, OK. The two celebrated more than 52 years of life together before his passing in December of 2012.
Over the years, Fern spent countless hours sewing, doing embroidery work, performing word searches, and cooking for friends and family. She also loved birdwatching and reading her Bible. Fern also kept a daily appointment with her television as she faithfully watched her soap operas, Wheel of Fortune and The Price Is Right.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Leon; by a brother, Richard Redus; and by two sisters, Ruth Eaton and Lois Switzer. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Ronnie Brown and wife Jana of Marietta; daughters, Donna Buxton and husband Mike of Marietta, Valerie Brown of Burneyville, OK, and Shelly Brown and fiancé Michael Stephenson of Marietta; a sister-in-law, Pat Redus of Kingfisher, OK; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and her German Shepherd, Freedom.
Casket bearers will be Justin Brown, Tyler Juarez, Dalton Brown, Hayden Brown, Zack Sampson, and D.J. Brown. Honorary bearers are the remaining grandchildren.
