Obituary

Ernest Wayne Alexander, 90, of Burneyville, OK, was born on June 25, 1933, in Burneyville to the late Ernest Lee and Ola Beatrice (Carothers) Alexander. Wayne passed away Wednesday evening, December 27, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore.

Wayne was raised in Love County, graduating from Courtney High School. He attended college for a few years and moved to Grand Prairie, TX in 1953. It was during this time that he and his wife Allegra Joy (Hendon) Alexander started their family. While living in Grand Prairie, Wayne worked for Murdoch Industries as a purchasing agent.

After the death of his wife, Wayne decided to move back home to Love County in 2009. This is when the opportunity presented itself and he found love again with a lifelong friend. He married the former Oma Ruth Morton on April 3, 2014, in Shreveport, Louisiana. They shared a wonderful relationship that brought two families together.

Wayne loved sports and was often watching football on television or spending time on the golf course. As a young athlete, Wayne was a semi-professional baseball player, and was often recruited to play for different teams to fill a role they had open. As he got older, he loved to frequent the WinStar World Casino and try his luck.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Allegra Joy Alexander; a daughter, Aletra Stuart; brothers, Wigg Alexander and Cecil Alexander; and a sister, Selma Glidden.
