Obituary

Edward (Eddie) Brady Harness, Jr. passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 71.  Eddie was born on December 11, 1953, in Liberal, Kansas, to the late Edward Brady Harness, Sr. and Dilla Dolores Rodkey Hood. He was raised in Tyrone, Oklahoma, where he attended public school and graduated in 1973. That same year, he enrolled at Seward County Community College in Liberal.  On November 10, 1973, Eddie married the love of his life, Paulette Irene McDonald, in Tyrone. Together, they built a life of love, service, family, and adventure.  Eddie worked for Beech Aircraft as an FAA and Odar inspector, writing Air worthiness Tags for the government. A proud Eagle Scout, Eddie started as a Cub Scout and went on to lead Boy Scout troops in Tyrone. He coached baseball there until work relocated him to Wichita, where he stayed involved in community sports. He played on men's softball teams, coached neighborhood kids and girls' softball, served on the softball board, and helped build new fields. He was instrumental in helping develop the Augusta Softball Complex and served on the Fast-pitch ASA Board. Eddie was especially proud to coach his daughter and shape her into a skilled catcher. Even after her graduation, he continued to pour into the lives of young athletes.  He not only raised his own children but fed, housed, and mentored many others along the way. He was also a longtime member of the Beachcraft Drifter's motorcycle club (2005–2025), where he found brotherhood and adventure. Eddie had a deep love for the outdoors — camping, bow hunting, riding his Harley Davidson Trike, and especially fishing. For 25 years, he and Paulette traveled to Lake Texoma to fish and swim, and upon retiring in 2016, they made it their home. He was a lifelong member of the Tyrone Southern Baptist Church until he and Paulette moved to Kingston when they became a member of Texoma Southern Baptist Church. Eddie had a servant's heart. He loved running jug-lines for catfish, going out with striper guides, and white bass fishing. Eddie also enjoyed bowling, driving his Ranger, and spending time with his grandkids.
