Edward Dewane "Ed" Chambers was born in Temple, OK on April 18, 1936 to Brady H. and Lorene (Brown) Chambers. He passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Lake Country Nursing Center in Marietta. He was 87.

Ed grew up in the Oswalt community in Love County, OK and graduated from Meadowbrook High School in 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on August 16, 1955. Ed was selected for Radio Intercept Operator training, after which he was stationed in Germany on a remote site for tracking and surveillance. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in August of 1959 and accepted employment with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). During Ed's 37-year career in the Flight Service Option, he worked in six different locations and retired as the manager of the Fort Worth Automated Flight Service Station in Fort Worth, TX. In 1989 his facility received national recognition as the Automated Flight Service Station of the Year. Another highlight of Ed's career was being called on to participate in hearings all over the country to help resolve the chaos that followed the 1981 air traffic controllers' strike.

Ed had a love for flying all his life. During his career with the FAA, he obtained his private pilot's license and purchased a small plane. He took his friends and family on many memorable trips.

Ed married Rose Marie Rice on July 18, 1956. They have two wonderful children, Randal Alan Chambers and Rhonda Fay (Chambers) Ibrahim. They were grateful to add to their family Randal's wife Lisa and Rhonda's late husband Tim. They were blessed again when Rhonda married Fred in 2022. Ed enjoyed spending time with his five grandsons, Sean Alan Chambers and his wife Julie, Clay Ryan Chambers and his wife Amanda, Cody Rice Chambers, Travis Randal Taylor, and Timothy Reid Taylor; and five great-grandchildren, Lainie Danette Chambers, Brock Alan Chambers, Jackson Ryan Chambers, Beau Randal Chambers, and Averi Rose Chambers. Ed is also survived by his brother-in-law Lynn Leverton and his nieces Whitney and Lindsay. God is good!

Following their retirement, Ed and Rose moved from Fort Worth to the CR (Chambers Rice) Ranch, where they built their forever home. Ed joined his father-in-law Leonard Rice in raising cattle and expanded the size of the family ranch.

Ed was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Marietta. He served on a number of committees, participated in Bible studies, and especially enjoyed game nights.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly (Chambers) Leverton; and son-in-law, Tim Taylor.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ed's great-grandson Brock Chambers and his grandsons Sean Chambers, Clay Chambers, Cody Chambers, Travis Taylor, and Reid Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Good News Class at Marietta First United Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Ed will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, December 11th at the First United Methodist Church in Marietta with Rev. Les Bussell officiating and Steve Davis assisting. Interment with military honors will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, December 10th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
