Edgar Carnell Carter, Jr., 77, of Thackerville, OK, was born on June 14, 1948, in Borger, TX to the late Edgar Carnell and Margaret Esther (Griffin) Carter. He passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at his Thackerville residence.

Edgar attended school in Stinnett, TX, and eventually joined the United States Army. Edgar was a musician, and it became his life. He played with numerous groups with his music career including Wanda Jackson, and at the Gilley's Club in Nashville, TN. His life was lived mainly in Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas. He was a member of the Elks Club in McCook, NE, and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.

Maybe the only thing he loved more than the Dallas Cowboys were his wife Ella Marlene Carter, his children and grandchildren, as well as his love for music. They were married on February 6, 2004, in Trenton, NE.

Preceding Edgar in death are his parents; daughter, Elizabeth Parker; grandsons, Jordan Moore and Lee Frederick; an infant sister; and sister Loretta Pierce.

Left to cherish Edgar's memory are his wife Ella of the home; sons, Dustin "Dusty" Carter of Dallas, TX, and Justin Coleman of Maxwell, NE; daughters, Brandy Moore of The Colony, TX, Raven Herrington of Maurice, LA, and Stormiee Monks of AK; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several extended family members.

Edgar's life celebration will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 12, at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Sharen Hale officiating. Services are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Marietta, OK.
