With those degrees, she eventually worked for the Higher Education Center as a TRIO counselor with East Central University, where she was able to motivate students to continue their education and work towards achieving their goals. She also enjoyed working with the Children's Shelter in Ardmore.

Donna was very proud of her Chickasaw heritage and culture and everything about it. She served as a Chickasaw Legislator for 11 years, where she felt blessed to serve the people of the Chickasaw Nation. She continued to work for the Nation in another capacity as an interviewer, gathering the amazing stories of elders in the community. She also loved collecting pictures of her family, with whom she worked hard to share her genealogy knowledge and the importance of gathering as a family. She loved deeply and was loved by her family and friends.

Donna loved nature and never met a critter she didn't like, but her favorite animals of all were horses. When she was younger, she enjoyed dancing, was an avid reader and liked riding horses.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie Jean and Billy Douglas Liddell, Sr., grandparents, Evylee and Claud Brewer and Minnie and Daniel Vernon Liddell; brother, Bobby Daral Liddell; sister Glenda Jean Liddell; and nieces and nephews: B.B., B.J., Christopher and Kristina Liddell.
