Obituary

Services with military honors by the Patriot Honor Guard for David Henry Spicer of Marietta, OK are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2019, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel of Marietta with Pastor Stan Idell officiating. Interment will follow in the Burneyville Cemetery, Burneyville, OK under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

The son of Clarence Dave Higgs and Betty Jean Kenedy Higgs was born June 22, 1949 in Boswell, OK. He passed away Friday, September 27, 2019, at Medical City of Denton, TX at the age of 70.

David started school at Madill, OK before moving to Bakersfield, CA in 1960. He attended school through the 6 th Grade in Bakersfield, then moved back to Madill for his 7 th Grade year. He then completed his 8 th grade year in Greenville, OK and moved to Burneyville where he graduated from Turner High School with the Class of 1968. He served in the United States Army. He moved back to Love County in 2010, where he was a telecommunications technician. David was a member of the Burneyville Baptist Church where he was baptized. He enjoyed riding his Harley's, hunting, fishing and most of all he loved his kids and grandkids.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, David Spicer, Jr.; and an uncle, Harvey Spicer.

Survivors include a son, Donald Spicer; two daughters, Marcy Cartmill and Kenneth Albrecht and Michelle Spicer-Irvin and husband Michael, Sr.; four brothers, William Martin Spicer and wife Beverly Ann, Elmer Gene Spicer and wife Virginia, Gussie Franklin Spicer, and Benjamin Spicer and wife Elena; three sisters, Patricia Ann Spicer-Gillum and husband Terry Lynn, Dorothy Spicer Massey, and Rachel Spicer; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Donald Spicer, Kennie Albrecht, Stetson Burnett, Mark Spicer, Martin Spicer, Terry Gillum, and Randall Colston. Honorary bearers are David Spicer and Denny Hornbeak.

Time of visitation for family and friends will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
