Codi Dawn
Culwell
March 24, 1980 – August 27, 2024
Codi Began this life on March 24, 1980, in Ardmore the daughter of Edwin and Sandra (Brown) Culwell. At the age of 14, Codi was involved in a serious accident that left her paralyzed. From the beginning, Codi was driven and determined not to let the accident dictate the rest of her life. She immediately began working to get better. Codi started treatment and stayed in school, soon graduating with the Marietta High School Class of 1998. But that was by no means the end of her story. Codi continued various treatments and therapies for years to come. She studied and sought treatments around the country and even around the world. She received treatments in Turkey, Germany, and Chicago. And through sheer determination, Codi was able to get herself into a program with the Christopher Reeve's Foundation in Louisville, KY.
During her search for treatment, Codi also received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Arizona and a second bachelor's degree in broadcasting from the University of Texas-Dallas. She had also recently enrolled at East Central University in Ada, OK to get her master's degree in counseling.
While working in broadcasting in the Dallas area, Codi was able to live out what many would consider a dream. She was able to rub elbows and talk with some of the biggest rock stars in the country. She loved going to concerts and talking with the bands. Codi also loved trips to the beach, basking in the sun and sand. She had a selfless, nonjudgemental love for everyone. This may be the reason she was so good at her most recent job in customer service at Home Depot. Her caring attitude also played a huge role in the lives of several children that she is credited for helping to raise.
Codi was preceded in death by her father and by two grandmothers, Edna Brown and Hazel Young. Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Sandra Culwell of the home; brother, B.J. Culwell and wife Violet of Rhome, TX; sister, Nikki Culwell of Marietta; two nephews she thought of as sons, Aden Lott and Jaxon Lott; nephews, Bryson Culwell, Brady Culwell, and Landon Culwell; nieces, Ventura Culwell, Beth Hall, and Ellie Lott; a god-daughter, Bailee Gray; special friends, Dillon Bell, Grace Spears, Ronni Mills, Jammi Thogmartin, and Jennifer Nipp; and many more family, friends, and friends who became family.
Codi's family would also like to thank the entire Love County Community for their love and support for Codi throughout her life's journey.
The casket bearers are Aden Lott, Jaxon Lott, Dillon Bell, B.J. Culwell, Bryson Culwell, Brady Culwell, and Landon Culwell. Honorary bearers are the Marietta High School Class of 1998.
