Clauson Smithson, 87, Wynnewood, Oklahoma passed away on Monday November 10, 2025, in Wynnewood. He was born on May 3, 1938, in Dalhart, Texas to the late William Foy Smithson and Vera Juanita Smithson. Raised in Dalhart where he attended school, was in Billings Montana a few years of his early teens. He was active in basketball, FFA, also where he learned about leather craft, as well as helping his dad on the ranch.
Clauson married Anita June 14, 1959, and they opened the Dalhart Saddle Shop. A few years later they sold the shop and went into training show horses. Throughout the years he was involved with the family of purchasing, renovating & selling ranches as well as raising cattle in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma while training horses for other ranches. Several years later, back to working with his dad ranching at Dalhart. In 1964 the Clayton, New Mexico ranch was purchased. He learned the trade of welding and helped build several of the feedlots in the panhandle as well did horse shoeing for the feedlots.
In 1972 he and his father came to Madill and purchase the ranch northeast of Madill. After selling this ranch in 1979 he went back to doing the leather work that he enjoyed the most and opened the Smithson Saddle Shop.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, a board member of the Marshall Co Jr Livestock Association, Madill Rodeo Roundup Club. He enjoyed team roping and playing 42 as well as helping his kids with all their activities.
In 1991 they moved to Pauls Valley area with the Saddle Shop doing boot, saddle repair and any other items to be created with leather. In his final years, he enjoyed going to team roping's, watching the grand kids showing their livestock, ball games and weddings. At the age of 87 this ole cowboy did learn some new technology for doing facetime with the grandkids. In the end, he is now with his true love and greeted by many of his friends. Fairwell until we meet again.

Son: Doug Smithson & wife Rhonda.
10 Grandchildren: Tenisha (Scifres) Low & husband Tyrell, Sami Jo (Scifres) Runyan & husband Dillon, Shianna (Scifres) Gambill & husband Steven, Justin Smithson, Alyssa (Smithson) Daniels & husband Derek, Logan Smithson
8 Great Grand Children: Brianna Low Benes & husband Timmy, Audrinna Low, Shaylee & Slade Gambill, Darbee & Scotti Dawn Runyan, Poppy Daniels
Niece: Bobbi Lyn (Smithson) Weick
He was preceded in death by his parents Foy & Vera Smithson; one brother Larry Smithson, Wife Anita Lou (Ayres) Smithson 2023; a niece Lori Dawn Smithson McInnis
Clauson cherished his time with his family, friends & good customers that became friends
