Chrystene Elizabeth (Mayo) Pickens, 87 of Madill, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at her home in Madill. She was born on April 21, 1927 in Newton, Mississippi to the late George Wesley Mayo and Inez Humphreys Mayo. Chrystene fell in love on 1st sight with Jack Perry Pickens and married him on April 12, 1945 in Charleston, Missouri. She said they would be together forever and they were. He preceded her in death on September 6, 2012. They lived a lot of different places, Colorado, Elmore City, Oklahoma, but loved Madill. In 1960 they owned and operated Sportsman/ Thrifty Center and she loved working in her own business. Chrystene was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and the Parent Teachers Association. She enjoyed gardening, working in the flower beds and cooking. Chrystene loved to sit and visit and having her family around her. She is survived by: Children: James Pickens and wife Tawana Sue, Madill, Oklahoma Paula (Pickens) Uzzel and husband Terry, Madill, Oklahoma Grandchildren: Bethany Mancini and husband Michael, Madill, Oklahoma Allison Spooner, Kingston, Oklahoma Great Grandchildren: Maryn Mancini, M. J. Mancini, Ireland Spooner and Teagan Spooner Brother: Gene Mayo and wife Lou, Madill, Oklahoma Chrystene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson; Matthew Uzzel.
