Obituary

Charlette Mae Willis was born June 5, 1939 in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of Melvin Turner Rutledge and Alice Leeper Stiles Rutledge. She passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 in Mercy Hospital Ardmore at the age of 74. Mrs. Willis had made her home in Love County for the past 38 years, previously a resident of Oklahoma City. She married Royce Willis in Oklahoma City on January 1, 1970. A homemaker, Mrs. Willis enjoyed a variety of crafts, such as ceramics, and collecting Precious Moments figurines. Every Christmas she had a special "crafty" gift for each member of the family. She was a very active member of Marietta's First Baptist Church, serving as G.A. and Acteens leader for many years. In addition, Charlette was a member of the Senior Adult Choir. She always enjoyed taking care of and visiting with people. Her parents preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Royce Willis of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Terri Skidmore of Ada, OK, Mark Willis and Mike and Julie Willis of Oklahoma City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Randall Christy of Roff, OK, Melody and Dewayne Payne and Laura Willis of Oklahoma City; sister, Melva Hale of Ada; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Casket bearers will be grandsons, A.J. Christy, Clark Christy, Frankie Skidmore, Doug Skidmore, Justin Payne and Kyle Willis.
