Yvone was born in Ardmore on October 5, 1938. The second of four children, she was the only daughter of Dale W. "Stoney" Goodin and Laura Bell (Kouns) Goodin. She passed away on March 10, 2025.
After graduating from Ardmore High School in 1956, Yvone was employed by the Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. It was then that she met and married Phillip McGinnis. Yvone followed her heart, accompanying Phillip to Japan, Texas, Oklahoma, California and New Mexico. Upon Phillip's retirement from the Air Force, they settled in Marietta, making it their permanent home.
Yvone went on to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating from Murray State College's nursing program as an RN in 1981 at the top of her class. She worked at (Mercy) Memorial Hospital in Ardmore before joining the Love County Health Department as the Coordinating Nurse, where she retired in 2000. She was proud to be a member of the Love County Child Abuse Task Force, eventually training to serve as a CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocate, upon retirement from the health department. Yvone was honored to serve on the Love County Board of Health for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Phillip McGinnis, Sr.; a son, Kevin Daniel McGinnis; her parents; two brothers, Thomas Goodin and William "Bill" Goodin; and a great granddaughter, Kaydence Martin.
She is survived by her sons, Phillip and wife Barbara, and Colin and wife Lori; six grandchildren, William McGinnis, Eric McGinnis, Ryan McGinnis and wife Chelsea, Kaitlyn Casas and husband Adam, Matthew McGinnis and wife Leah, and Joshua McGinnis; four great grandchildren, Braiden and Dillon Martin, Eli Casas, and Daniel McGinnis; a brother, DW Goodin; a special niece, Polly Goodin; and several nieces and nephews.
