Bobby Gene Akins Jr.

Bobby Gene Akins Jr., 60, of Dickson, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

He was born on September 29, 1965, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, to the late Bobby Gene Akins and Phyllis Ramona Kinsey Akins. He was raised in Dickson, where he graduated from Dickson High School with the Class of 1984. On April 11, 2014, Bobby married Desiere Smith, in Madill, Oklahoma. He dedicated 23 years of service to the Michelin Tire Company in Ardmore. When he wasn't working, he loved spending time outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing with his grandchildren, working out at MetroFlex Gym, or caring for his cattle, Bobby was happiest doing the things he loved. Above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought endless pride and happiness to his life.

Children: Dustin Wheeler and wife, Amanda, of Dickson, Oklahoma

Amanda Iliff and husband, Dustin, of Ardmore, Oklahoma

Alyssa Tynes and husband, Jimmy, of Burneyville, Oklahoma

7 grandchildren: Tallie, Trey, Luke, Thorstin, Titus, Zane, and Kyson

along with numerous other family members and friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Gene Akins and Phyllis Ramona Kinsey Akins, and by his sister, Angela Renae Akins.
