Billy Bob
Armstrong
December 21, 1938 – July 11, 2024
Billy Bob Armstrong, 85, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at his home in Litchfield Park, Arizona. He was born on December 21, 1938, in Shay, Oklahoma, to the late Cary Alton Armstrong and Ethel Rosalie Laxson Armstrong.
Due to his father's work, Billy Bob lived all over the Southwest growing up changing schools 19 times. However, he was able to spend his full Senior year at Agua Fria High School in Goodyear, Arizona, where he was editor of the school newspaper, played basketball and tennis. In November 1958, he married Janet Lou Strasner of Boise City, Oklahoma. Together they had four daughters: Diana, Cindy, Kathy, and Holly. After 20 years of marriage, they divorced in 1978. He began his newspaper career as a cub reporter then went into advertising sales for the Glendale News in Glendale, Arizona. His career would put him in Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and back to Arizona. On September 20, 1979, he married LaDonna Gayle Stovall Pippin in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they made a great team doing what a lot of couples can't...working together, being together 24/7. Bill's career in publishing spanned over 60 years.
Billy Bob was a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Lakewood, Colorado, and a devout member of the Church of Christ. An entrepreneur at heart, he enjoyed photography, collecting sports memorabilia, and flying his plane.
Billy Bob is survived by his loving wife, LaDonna Armstrong of Litchfield Park, Arizona; his children, Diana Hamby and husband Michael of Edmonds, Washington; Cindy Armstrong of Oceanside, California; Kathy Armstrong of Surprise, Arizona; Holly Armstrong of Chandler, Arizona; Wil Pippin and wife Jenny of Midland, Texas; and Michael Pippin and wife Kim of Ellsworth, Maine; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia D'Ambrosio.
