Bessie Mae Gordon was born April 16, 1914 in Foreman, AR, the daughter of Harvey and Josie Reels Kirk. She passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta, at the age of 98. Mrs. Gordon was a homemaker, and also helped operate the family farm. Mrs. Gordon had lived most of her life in Love County. She and Jake E. Gordon were married at Jimtown, OK on November 2, 1936, and he preceded her in death on October 11, 1997. Bessie loved to fish and camp at Briar Creek, but most of all she loved taking care of her family. She was a charter member of the Jimtown Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bill Cooper in 1999; daughter-in-law, Betty Gordon in 2007; two grandsons, Farran Cooper in 1979 and Brent Howerton in 1995; great-granddaughter, Macy Gordon; four brothers and a sister. Survivors include her son, Johnny Gordon of Jimtown; daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and David Howerton of Jimtown; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cooper, also of Jimtown; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Serving as casket bearers will be Joe Gordon, Jay Gordon, Kurt Gordon, Cody Gordon, R.J. Howerton and Steven Doggett. Honorary bearers are Laquitta Ladner, Carolyn and Tommy Hartman and her special caregivers; Stephanie Luckenbill, Sheri Rhoades, Nikki Bartee and Tonya Cook.
