Obituary

Barbara Louise (Stilley) Golenski, 83, of Kingman, Arizona, died Monday, June 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada as the result of several health issues.

She was born March 15, 1942 in Mannsville, Oklahoma to Argus and Eva Pearl (Sims) Stilley. She grew up in Mannsville and graduated from Mannsville High. She moved to Southern California when she was a young woman. She married Don Walter Golenski, orginally from Massachusetts, in the early 1960s and they had two children, Kimberly and Jason. Don died in 2017. Barbara and her children moved to Gainesville, Texas for a brief time before returning to California.

She worked in retail most of her life. Many of her co-workers became lifelong friends.

Her strong will kept her going despite many challenges, including the deaths of her children when they were in their early 40s.

She was extremely proud of her children. Kimberly was a police dispatcher for the city of Claremont in California. Jason served in the U.S. Air Force and later was a journeyman flooring installer who had worked on the homes of several celebrities, including singer Michael Jackson.

She was a generous soul who took great interest in her extended family. Throughout her life, she loved dogs, gardening and cooking, as well as keeping up on the latest news and weather. She was a true survivor and her family and friends will miss her so much!

She is survived by her sisters, Maxine Stilley and Ann Broughton. both of Norman, Oklahoma; a brother, Argus Stilley of Lompoc, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
