Aline Codeen Easterwood, known affectionately as "Codeen" by her family and friends, passed away on Monday August 26, 2024, at the age of 88.  She was born in Marshall County and grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico and Russett, Oklahoma.  She and Wayne Easterwood married in 1955 and began their life together in Stillwater, OK, Tupelo, OK and eventually Oklahoma City. There they raised their two children and Codeen worked at the Baptist Book Store followed by a time with Williams Gas in Tulsa. They later returned to her childhood home in Russett, Oklahoma, where they spent over 20 years during their "working retirement," operating ACE Quilting. (In their nearly 30 years quilting they have gifted or been commissioned to create/complete over 5000 heirlooms.)

Codeen was a storyteller. She could recount the story behind every picture in her albums or items hung on the wall of her home; nearly every treasure held a tale, a connection to her life or loved one. She was known for her strawberry cake, biscuits, and pinto beans. A natural caretaker, she brought comfort not only through her cooking, but also through her deep care for others.

A few years ago, Codeen and Wayne relocated to Hendersonville, Tennessee, to be closer to a cluster of family. These last years have been filled with the company of their grandchildren, great-grandchildren.  In Tennessee, Codeen and Wayne found joy in participating in the local quilting guild and supporting Meals on Wheels. Their love and devotion to Christ were lived out through their active involvement at First Baptist Church Hendersonville.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Wayne Easterwood, Sr.; their daughter, Dorinda Weaver, and her husband Daniel of Virginia Beach, VA; their son, Wayne Easterwood, Jr., and his wife Lisa of Nashville, TN; her sister, Tena Greer of Prague, OK.

She has five grandchildren: Zachary Easterwood (Sarah), Gwen Johnson (Cory), Taylor Easterwood (Megan), Maddie Jordan (Dan), and Dalton Easterwood (Jacquelyn) and seven great-grandchildren: Ruby Jordan, Ellis Easterwood, Emmett Jordan, Lando Easterwood, Isla Easterwood, Charlotte Easterwood, and Hailey Johnson.

Codeen was preceded in death by her parents, A.W. (Ott) Looney and Amerita (Sadie) Looney, as well as her brother, Carl Looney.

She will be laid to rest in Russett Cemetery in Russett, Oklahoma, close to the place she called home for so many years.
