Marie Gibbs, 82, of Marietta, OK was born December 10, 1926, in Arlie, TX, the daughter of Herman and Octavia Carter Welch. She passed away Tuesday, May 12, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. A resident of Love County since 1942, Mrs. Gibbs was a supervisor at the Marietta Cookie Factory, retiring after 32 years. She and Calvin Gibbs were married December 21, 1944 in Marietta, and he preceded her in death on October 20, 1979. Mrs. Gibbs enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a member of Marietta's Eastside Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Virgil Welch; and three sisters, Oneta Rennels, Lola Branch and Clara Conley. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Debbie Gibbs of Madill, OK and Thomas and Grace Gibbs of Fort Worth, TX; brother, T.J. Welch of Marietta; sister, Lois Porter of Marietta; two grandsons, Scotty Gibbs of San Antonio, TX and Ryan Gibbs of Madill; and best friend and neighbor, Billie Slimp. Serving as bearers will be Scotty Gibbs, Ryan Gibbs, Tom Thompson, Ben Thompson, David "Chuck" Slimp and Charles E. Hudson. Honorary bearers are Sonny Mobley, Sam Brewer, Charles W. Slimp, Billie Slimp, Gene Rhoades, Bub Peery, Barbara Bond and Dr. Tom O'Connor.
