Biography

Audrey Newsome of Thackerville, OK was born May 3, 1923, in Wapanucka, OK, the daughter of Marvin and Almeda Hubbard Clifton. She passed away Monday, March 8, in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta, at the age of 86.

A homemaker, Mrs. Newsome had been a resident of Love County since 1963. She and John Earl Newsome were married in Marietta in 1956, and he preceded her in death on July 9, 2006. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Mrs. Newsome liked to quilt. She was a member of the Thackerville First Baptist Church.

Others preceding her in death were her parents; infant son; two sisters and eight brothers.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie Don and June Hughes and Kenneth and Martha Hughes, all of Gainesville, TX, and Charles and Margaret Newsome of Thackerville; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Clifton of Marietta and Iris Neff of Green Valley, AZ; four grandchildren, Gary, Brenda, Christin and Tonja; and eight great-grandchildren.
