Biography

Jerry Ray Simpson, 58, of Marietta, OK, was born March 10, 1951, at Ardmore, OK, the son of Joe Bailey and Eva Mae Barfield Simpson. He passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 in the Presbyterian Hospital of Denton, Denton, TX.

A resident of Marietta all of his life, Mr. Simpson attended school at Marietta and then served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He was an auto parts manager for O’Reilly Auto Parts for many years until his retirement. Mr. Simpson married Katrina Kirk on October 11, 1991 in Ardmore. His hobbies were motorcycles and reading. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and helping other people whenever he could. Mr. Simpson was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Katrina Simpson of the home; two daughters, Sonya McGuffin and husband, Matt of Colorado Springs, CO, and Candace Murphree and husband, Tracy of Sanger, TX; two stepdaughters, Tambre Sanders and husband, Ronnie of Marietta and Wendy Stewart of The Colony, TX; stepson, Barry Stewart and wife, Melissa of Marietta; two brothers, Raymond Anglin and wife, Lattie of Kankakee, IL and Bill Simpson and wife, Ruby of Ratliff City, OK; sister, Mary Kay Whittington and husband, Dale of Thackerville, OK; 13 grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Serving as honorary bearers will be Stan Means, Ted Pohlchuck, Ron Westfall, Tommy Choate, Lester Douglas, Booger Minyard and Jackie Barnes.
